ABOUT EARTH SONG FARM

Earth Song is a small cut flower farm in Verona, KY and our mission is to work with creation to bring beauty from the soil. We fill as much of our property with flowers, veggies, and fruits as we can manage with human power and hand tools using a no-till method. We eat most of the food and share what we can’t eat, and we sell the flowers! We grow a large variety of perennial and annual flowers. Some of our favorites are dahlias, zinnias, echinacea, celosia, statice, snapdragons, feverfew and calendula.

Our main product currently is flower bouquets but we are always exploring creative ways to bring more floral beauty into people’s lives. We dry flowers and use them for arrangements, wreaths, and jewelry. We grow edible flowers for salad topping and dry them for teas. The intricate beauty and diversity of flowers seems endless and we are eager to explore more ways that flowers can be a powerful medium for joy and beauty.

About the Farmer

Hi! I'm Danielle. I own and operate Earth Song Farm with the help of my family and a couple of friends who donate their time and creativity.

I live on a 2 acre plot with my husband, 3 kids, dog, cat, hens, ducks, and a host of critters who live here and who come to visit. My love for growing ignited in Covington, KY, when my husband and I were newly married. We lived in a one bedroom shotgun apartment with a couple tracks of dirt—no more than 2'x50' —that ran along the sidewalk. We filled it with as much green life as we could: peppers, tomatoes, zinnias, herbs and yellow squash (which quickly dominated the walkway). After a couple years in the city, we heard the call of the countryside and moved south where we could find land. And then we planted ourselves here, in Verona, KY and got to work making something of it. Every year I learn lessons in patience, perseverance, and thankfulness...also horticulture!

What is important to us

Our growing methods and business practices are driven by a few key values:

Affection

Beauty

Gratitude

Wildness

Affection

We have been trusted with the care of a small piece of the earth that we want to use with what Wendell Berry calls “affection.” That means that we don’t merely want our work to be sustainable. Instead our goal is that our use of the land would be careful and healing, leading to greater abundance year after year.
